Senior technical author - Software Documentation                            Ref:NWA835W

Our client is an international organisation that delivers enterprise applications solutions to companies located world-wide. They are seeking a Senior Technical Author to join a very well established documentation team. To be considered for this vacancy, you must have a strong technical writing background and understand complex concepts in software development, maintenance, data management, and deployment. You must be able to present complex concepts clearly and concisely.

The Role

Using DITA XML and XMetaL, you will be writing new documentation and maintaining existing documentation, context-sensitive (or popup) help, and online books.

Ideally, you will have a general understanding or experience with various programming languages. You will be able to contribute to the design of our software with particular emphasis on usability, and to discuss technical detail with developers based both locally and abroad.

Required skills

  • Proven experience of writing for a technical audience, ideally programmers
  • Technically minded, some programming experience/knowledge
  • Knowledge of XML or HTML
  • Adaptable, quick learner

Desirable skills

  • Knowledge of DITA, CMS tools
  • Familiar with Agile methodology


Technical author - E-learning developer - Training developer - creative video

Amsterdam €40 - 60K package

Our client is seeking an E-learning developer to assist in the development of staff world-wide. You will be playing a crucial part in communicating the benefits, new features and system changes for their global banking IT platform.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating comprehensive storyboards in English
  • Building E-learning modules using an authoring tool
  • Creating video tutorials using screen capture software
  • Hosting, managing and tracking the E-learning in a Learning Management System
  • Creating or sourcing imagery for the E-learning

You should be a creative, self-starter who can quickly learn new applications and banking concepts. 

Your profile should also include:

  • A degree
  • Experience of working an a corporate - ideally in the financial services sector
  • Proven E-learning storyboarding and authoring skills - preferably using Captivate and/or Camtasia
  • Rapid E-learning development experience

IT Technical author - Engineering/Manufacturing - MS Windows - Process Modelling - UML/BPMN - Business Systems

Our prestigious customer is seeking an experienced technical author to develop documentation for their business processes, systems and infrastructure and provide enhanced support of their varied software and IT documentation activities.  You will own and support the documentation framework and take responsibility for promoting best practices and standards. You will work with business units to document system and process changes using UML and/or BPMN. You will also liaise with technical architects and project managers.

To qualify for this positions, you should have the following expertise:

  • Degree or related business discipline
  • Business domain experience, ideally engineering and/or manufacturing
  • Process Modelling, analysis and simulation tools, such as UML and/or BPMN
  • End user requirements gathering
  • Able to communicate with a wide range of end-user audience
  • Experience of developing and deploying documentation frameworks
  • Experience of using SharePoint for document delivery
  • Strong communication, project and time management skills
  • Able to wok independently or in a team environment

Contract position

Our insurance client is seeking technical authors to produce documentation for the internal model (IMAP) timetable. You will be producing regulatory reports to support the risk policies and compliance for the Solvency II requirements.

You must have a technical authoring background with

  • a financial services and insurance background 
  • experience of Solvency II (ideal) or Basel II or insurance compliance
  • knowledge of Lloyds insurance an advantage
  • experience of working with Actuaries and underwriters

The technical authoring  team develop a wide range of technical and non technical documents using AuthorIT.  The authors take ownership for planning and developing their own deliverables and ensuring consistency with related documents developed by others.

It is essential that you will be willing and able to follow style and process guidelines and committed to producing concise and consistent documents that meet these standards.

Single sourcing experience would be very useful, and ability to work with a team of writers working on related modules is essential.

This is a new opportunity to join a highly successful IT management consultancy specialising in high quality services to all areas within the MOD and government organisations. Their services include management consultancy, change management, programme and project management, IS strategy, technical consulting, system design and integration, web-based solution implementation and Managed Service delivery.

Due to continued expansion in their security/information assurance practice, the company is now seeking bid writers to join their successful team.

The responsibilites will include the following:

  • Taking full responsibility for producing small bids in conjunction with Business Managers and Practice Heads
  • Working in conjunction with the Head of Security Practice on opportunities within this sector, including liaison with partner companies
  • Providing bid writing and support to the bid and marketing team on larger framework bids
  • Working with colleagues and partners to co-ordinate Security Projects
  • Updating and providing management reports as required
  • Providing general bid support, & other company related support activities.

Ideally, you will have the following experience:

  • Degree educated
  • Proven experience in writing bids or proposals
  • Excellent writing skills and an enthusiasm for writing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • A team player who is flexible and committed to providing consistent, excellent quality bid writing and support.

Due to the nature of some of the bid work, you must be eligible for obtaining security clearance.
